So I leave for Egypt in five days and I must say that I am a bit nervous. I have not been able to get a hold of the man that will be my landlord, I hope. I am also trying to finish this chapter which may be done very soon because it seems that I have broken through the tough period that always accompanies writing for me.
I am really excited and nervous because I have no idea what to expect when I get to Egypt. I suppose that it will be a lot of the same. I will see some old faces and make some new friends and my new projects are going to be really interesting if they pan out.
I have big plans to get work done. I found this really potentially amazing work space in Mohandeseen which caters to people who need a productive positive work space. It has good internet and seems to be a quiet place to do work. I will also separate my work space from my home space. I hope that will make things easier for me. Next week's agenda will be to get a bank account, deal with my mobile phone and get into my apartment. I also will hopefully recover from my jetlag very quickly and be able to go to the archive. I only have six more weeks of priveledges there. I also need to call my advisor in Egypt and set up a meeting with him. I am hoping that it will be an easier transition than I am anticipating.
Alot of exciting things are happening in my life right now. I am moving, albiet very slowly, through the writing phase. I have a couple of new projects underway and I am applying for write up grants although after this past six months it may just be better for me to teach when I get back, not sure. My next entry will be from Egypt, Inshallah. Cannot wait to get there, but also a little nervous about going. Much love to umm al dunya. Stef
